As you have likely seen in the news, congressional leadership is meeting this week to negotiate the next COVID-19 relief bill. Previous relief bills have neither provided money to water utilities nor their customers. Money was sent to state and local governments, but as you know, that does not guarantee the local water utility will receive any of that money. In fact, the CARES Act included a provision specifically prohibiting the use of those funds to compensate for lost utility revenues. More utilities are experiencing financial impacts from the length of time that the pandemic has lasted.
