The Kennebec Sanitary Treatment District is a Grade V regional activated wastewater treatment facility with a capacity of 12.7 million gallons per day, is seeking a full-time Assistant Wastewater Operator to help protect the health of our communities and the Kennebec River.

What You’ll Do: 

No two days are exactly alike. You’ll play a key role in:  

∙ Operating and monitoring plant equipment to ensure smooth and efficient treatment   Adjusting processes as needed to maintain strict permit compliance   Recording equipment readings and maintaining detailed records  

∙ Running the sludge dewatering process  

∙ Overseeing safe delivery and handling of treatment chemicals  

From time to time – working with maintenance department and lending a hand wherever needed  

What You’ll Bring: 

∙ A high school diploma or equivalent  

∙ Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills  

∙ Ability to interpret process data and make informed decisions  

∙ Comfort working both independently and as part of a team  

∙ Safety-minded with a willingness to learn  

∙ Basic smartphone & computer skills (MS Office including MS Excel, Word & Outlook)   Physical readiness for the job: lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and confined space entry  

What We Provide: 

We invest in our people. New to the field? We’ll get you licensed and trained:  Grade 2 – Maine Wastewater Operator Certification – must be obtained within 6 months (we’ll help with that! 

Competitive base hourly rate: $22.89–$28.46/hour, based on experience and qualifications. Additional hourly stipends for operator certification!
