 Utility Worker

         This position performs a variety of functions necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the public water system including the operation and maintenance of production and treatment facilities; the installation, maintenance, repair, relocation, retirement, testing and operations of the water distribution system; the service, installation and reading of water meters and the maintenance of utility structures and grounds.

         High school diploma or GED required. Must be able to lift 100 lbs. and obtain a State of Maine Class 1 Water System Operators License within one year.  Must have valid State of Maine Drivers License and demonstrate the capacity to use a personal computer

Passamaquoddy Water District

Class IV Plant Operator

           We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable individual who enjoys challenging opportunities and working in a technical environment.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a high degree of integrity, exhibit an enthusiastic, upbeat attitude and excellent communications skills.

 Key responsibilities include:

1.        Working closely with the District Manager, the District’s engineers and regulatory agencies in optimizing the efficiency of the water treatment operations.

2.        Work closely with the District Manager concerning plant and distribution activities.

3.        Participate in the preparation of accurate and realistic annual operating and capital plans.

         A four-year technical degree is preferred.  Prior experience working in a water treatment plant preferred.  Must either hold a valid class IV operators license or be able to obtain within 18 months of hire.  Must have ability to define problems and develop/implement valid action plans.  Must have strong personal computer experience, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
